Safeguarding

Kent County Organists Association

Safeguarding

The KCOA holds the core belief that each person has value and dignity. Among other things, this implies a duty to value each person and that they should be protected from harm.

The KCOA is committed to safeguarding as an integral part of everything we do. Safeguarding is about the action we take to promote a safer culture.

This means that we will:

  • Work to prevent abuse from happening
  • Seek to protect, respond well, and care for those who have been abused
  • Identify where a person may pose a risk to others and assess what level of involvement is possible whilst undertaking steps to mitigate such risks
  • Promote a safer environment and culture
  • Safely recruit and support all those with any role or responsibility related to children, young adults, and adults at risk of any harm within the life of the KCOA
  • Respond promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation

The association has safeguarding policies and procedures that assist us in protecting and safeguarding all who participate in any KCOA activity.

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, and service users of KCOA.

The Designated Safeguarding Officer is responsible for overseeing safeguarding practices.

This policy is informed by the Children Act 1989, the Care Act 2014, and other relevant legislation.

All members of the Association have a duty to be fully aware of any kind of risk to vulnerable individuals and act on it where appropriate.

If you have information regarding a safeguarding situation where a child or adult is in immediate danger, or requires medical assistance, call the emergency services. You can also contact your local authority designated officer with urgent safeguarding concerns.

This policy has been communicated to all KCOA members. It is reviewed annually, and its effectiveness is monitored through regular audits.
