'Come and Play the Organ' - Detailed Update!

Our contribution will take place at All Saints Maidstone on the 18th October at 2.00 p.m.

We offer the following as a guide to expectations:

In common with the aims of the RCO’s ‘Play the Organ Year’ initiative we will be exploring ways in which we can promote the instrument to all age groups both adults and children through demonstrations by selected KCOA members and opportunities to play at all levels regardless of experience. There will be a particular emphasis on those with little or no knowledge and experience who are interested in learning more about the organ and we hope the event will be a show case not just for the instrument but also for the aims of the KCOA in general and perhaps our 2026 competition. The afternoon will be scheduled as follows:

14.00          Children under the age of 18 and escorted

15.00         Break for refreshments

15.30         Adults

16.30         Finish

Following consultation it has been decided not to agree on specifics until we know who is attending and their respective skill level or otherwise. For example those with some keyboard experience such as pianists may require a different approach.

N.B. Numbers attending will of necessity be limited to 8 children and 8 adults in two separate hour sessions and as such early responses are essential to secure a booking. Priority will initially be given to KCOA members and their guests who are able to confirm their intention to bring along a person who meets the criteria outlined. Responses will be required from members by September the 20th after which the event will then be advertised publicly. Please note all young adults below the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to comply with  safeguarding requirements. In this respect your attention is drawn to our current policy as outlined on the website. There will be a £5.00 charge for adult participants and observers (other than those escorting under 18's)

To secure a booking please contact me ASAP at james_bryant1@sky.com and I will forward a booking form.

Thank you for your consideration.
